THN WEST POLL RESULTS
Your thoughts on consolidation: 31% say the Thomas Cook buyout of Fun Sun "doesn't affect me"
Last week, TRAVELHotNews Western Edition asked you how you felt about the recent Thomas Cook buyout of Fun Sun, Intair and Boomerang/Exotik Tours. A slight majority, 31 per cent, said it "doesn't affect me, I will continue to do business with them." Next, 28 per cent of readers answered, "Pretty soon we'll all be members of a larger conglomerate".  Another 28  per cent agreed with the statement, "I may start looking for another supplier; I prefer to deal with independents", and 14 per cent said "If you can't beat them, join them".

NAME THAT KIWI!
Goway Travel sponsors kiwi chick naming contest; you could win a trip for two to New Zealand!
Goway Travel has just announced their sponsorship of a kiwi chick at Kiwi Encounter at Rainbow Springs in Rotorua, New Zealand. To celebrate, Goway is inviting North American residents to submit a suggested name for the Kiwi! The successful submission will be awarded a trip for two to Rotorua, New Zealand, including round trip airfare from Los Angeles/San Francisco or Vancouver to Rotorua, 5 nights accommodation, and entry to Kiwi Encounter to view the kiwis. The kiwi is simply unique and commands its own place in the avian kingdom. It exists nowhere but New Zealand and its evolution is due to New Zealand’s isolation. However, ‘eccentric’ national symbol is an endangered species and Kiwi Encounter is playing its part to bring the treasured icon back from the brink of extinction on the New Zealand mainland.
