Signature Vacations announces Fall into the Tropics sale for departures Sept. 22 to Dec. 16
Signature Vacations has launched its “Fall into the Tropics Sale.”  Available for a limited time, the sale includes southern savings for fall departures from September 22 to December 16. Offer includes: Calgary to Puerto Plata, Bahia Principe San Juan, seven nights departing Nov. 11 to 18 priced at $998 plus $370 tax, a savings of $802 per couple/week; Edmonton to Puerto Plata, Bahia Principe San Juan, seven nights departing Nov. 4 to 18 priced at $998 plus $364.75 tax, a savings of $802 per couple/week; and Vancouver to Puerto Plata, Bahia Principe San Juan, seven nights departing Nov. 11 to 18 priced at $998 plus $364.75 tax, a savings of $802 per couple/week. SUNQUEST & RIU EXTEND WEDDING OFFER
Sunquest and Riu announce the extension of group and wedding offers and incentives for you
Sunquest and Riu have extended some offers and are enhancing their offerings overall through the addition of other Riu resorts. On all new bookings made by Aug. 31, for travel between Nov. 1 and Oct. 31, with a minimum stay of seven nights at the Riu Tequila, Riu Palace Mexico, Riu Palace Pacifico, Riu Sante Fe and Riu Palace Punta Cana, every 11th passenger travels free (no minimum). The same booking and travel dates apply to stays at the Riu Cancun, Riu Playacar, Riu Negril, Riu Taino and Riu Paradise Island, where every 11th passenger travels free with a minimum of 22 adults or 11 rooms booked for at least seven nights. There was a tie: 40% agreed that you could sell more of Europe and Latin America if guided tours were included in package pricing
Last week, TRAVELHotNews Western Edition wanted to know what destinations you thought you could sell more of if guided tours were included in package pricing. Tied with 40 per cent of the vote were Europe and Latin America. Twenty per cent of the readers who voted felt they could sell more Africa with included guided tours, and no one thought that guided tours affected, included or not included in package pricing, their Australia and New Zealand product. Carlson announces addition of seven locations to Canadian Portfolio

Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced the addition of seven locations to its Canadian portfolio during the past 18 months. The new hotels include three Radisson properties and four Park Inn hotels. Carlson’s Canadian portfolio now totals 39 hotels including 22 Radisson Hotels & Resorts, 13 Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and four Park Inn hotels. “We are in a period of tremendous growth in Canada,” said Jay Witzel, President and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide. “This is a country with both fantastic opportunity and a strong tourism industry, and one in which our hotel brands are becoming well known and respected.” [Full text and pictures]

VANCOUVER GETS WRIGLEY FLAVOUR
Wrigley Canada becomes official confectionery sponsor of the 2010 Winter Games
Yesterday, the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) welcomed Wrigley Canada as the official confectionery supplier to the 2010 Winter Games. The agreement enables Wrigley Canada to use 2010 Winter Games marks for promotional purposes for Wrigley brands including Excel, Extra, Juicy Fruit, LifeSavers, Hubba Bubba, Doublemint and Freedent. As an Official Supplier, Wrigley Canada also receives sponsorship rights for the Canadian Olympic team for Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010 and London 2012. “As a leading company with deep roots in Canada and world-class confectionery brands, we are proud to join the Vancouver 2010 team,” said Bruce Atherley, Wrigley’s vice president of North American confection marketing and Canada general manager. “We are honoured to support our Canadian athletes and we look forward to helping VANOC create a distinctly Canadian Olympic and Paralympic experience in 2010.”
