Canada, U.S. economic leaders call for border action ahead of 2010 Olympics Canadian Press Members of the Pacific Northwest Economic Region have issued a border charter with suggestions for both the American and Canadian governments to help speed up the flow of traffic between the countries. The suggestions are aimed at keeping the border safe for the 2010 Games while cutting down on wait times that eat into lucrative trade. The group wants beefed-up programs that pre-approve people to cross land borders, as well as strengthening of technologies that allow those programs to function. And the group will set up a border solutions co-ordination council which will issue an annual report card on the state of the border.

Cathay Pacific announce fare increase for first and business class passengers Cathay Pacific Airways has increased fares for first and business class passengers on most of its routes to and from Hong Kong. The fare increases range from three to 15 per cent. Effective Sept. 16, Cathay will resume its regular winter schedule of 17 direct flights to and from Vancouver each week, down from the current 21.
